Ioannis Morres, Assistant Professor
Dr Ioannis D. Morres is an assistant professor of ‘physical activity, mental health and
quality of life-eating behavior’, at the School of Physical Education, Sport &
Dietetics, University of Thessaly. He obtained MSc from the Katholieke Universiteit
Leuven-Belgium and PhD from the University of Thessaly. He teaches ‘research
methodology’, ‘behavior change’, ‘physical activity and mental health’ in the
undergraduate curriculum and ‘clinical exercise psychology: state-of-the-art exercise
on prescription for mental health disorders’ in the European Masters Program of Sport
& Exercise Psychology (University of Thessaly). He also teaches ‘meta-analytic
techniques’ and ‘exercise-mental health’ in Doctoral and Master Progammes at the
Universities of Leipzig (Germany) and Thessaly (School of Medicine). As co-
investigator, he secured externally funded projects of €1.100.000,00. He holds,
awards/distinctions as a top/outstanding reviewer in international journals, 25
publications and a ‘signal’ of scientific evidence by the National Institute of Health
Research for Patient Benefit in the United Kingdom. His clinical experience includes
delivery of 12.000 exercise sessions for mental health patients in the National Health
Systems in the USA, UK, Belgium and Denmark. His personal development includes
completion of 400 hours of individualized psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
